Spanish-speaking families in the Glenbard area can get free help navigating the college admissions process at a virtual session on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Glenbard District 87's GPS Parent Series is hosting the event entirely in Spanish at 7 p.m. No registration is required. The session, titled "Thriving in High School and Beyond: Navigating College Admissions," is part of the district's Bilingual Parent Advisory Council (B-PAC) programming.

Amairany Arzeta, a counselor at Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, and Erika Williams, a counselor at Glenbard East High School in Lombard, will lead the panel. Representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), the state agency that helps students access financial aid and grants, will also participate.

The panel plans to cover what makes a strong high school transcript, the role of standardized tests, financial aid and scholarship options, and key college-readiness deadlines. Organizers said they have prepared a practical guide outlining deadlines and academic targets for students and caregivers.

The Oct. 15 event is one of more than 50 free programs the GPS Parent Series offers during the 2026-27 school year, according to a Lombard Chamber of Commerce listing. Programs run in four languages at noon and 7 p.m. in virtual, hybrid and in-person formats. The series has connected families with experts on youth and family issues for more than 30 years, The Lombardian reported. Sponsors include College of DuPage, the DuPage County Health Department and Northwestern Medicine.

Continuing education credits are available for attendees.
