Noon Whistle Brewing will turn its Lombard brewpub into a daylong Bavarian festival on Saturday, Oct. 3, with free admission.

The brewery's Oktobeerfest runs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 800 E. Roosevelt Road. The event features a live Bavarian band, German-inspired food, special beer releases and activities for all ages, according to the brewery's event page.

Stein-holding contests headline the games lineup. The brewery described the competition as turning the act of holding a beer as long as possible into a competitive sport. Additional family-friendly games and traditional Oktoberfest activities round out the day.

On the beer side, Noon Whistle released its Festbier on Aug. 6 at both the Lombard and Naperville locations. The brewery described the lager as a traditional German-style beer with a smooth, bready malt character and a balanced finish. Additional special releases are expected for the Oct. 3 event, though the brewery has not published a full tap list.

The brewery pitched the Lombard event as part of a two-location Oktoberfest series. Noon Whistle held the first celebration at its Naperville Botanical Bar on Sept. 12. The Lombard date is the remaining scheduled Oktoberfest.

The Lombard brewpub has hosted permitted outdoor festivals at the Roosevelt Road site before. The Lombard Village Board considered a special-event ordinance for the brewery's Summerfest in May, according to village board records. That event was scheduled for June 20 at the same address.

The Daily Herald included the Lombard Oktobeerfest in a roundup of 15 suburban Oktoberfest celebrations.
