Three Glenbard football teams punched their tickets to the second round of the IHSA playoffs Friday, Oct. 23, each winning by double digits.

Glenbard East rolled past Bartlett 42-14 at home in Lombard, Glenbard North beat Hoffman Estates 34-20 on the road and Glenbard South dominated Payton 40-7 at Rockne Stadium in Chicago. Glenbard West, seeded No. 15 in Class 7A, had a first-round bye.

Glenbard East 42, Bartlett 14

The No. 17-seeded Rams made quick work of No. 48 Bartlett in Class 7A. Glenbard East entered the game having won six of its last seven after an 0-2 start, as we reported ahead of the matchup.

Running back Montii Perry had been the Rams' engine during the regular season, rushing for 739 yards and 10 touchdowns through eight games at 8.7 yards per carry, according to Shaw Local's playoff preview. Sophomore quarterback Carter Pohlman threw for 825 yards and nine touchdowns, with receiver Malachi Miller hauling in 32 catches for 398 yards and four scores. Defensively, Asheco Triplett Jr. had tallied 61 tackles and nine tackles for loss.

Bartlett entered as the last team into the 7A bracket at 2-7. The Hawks had not won a playoff game since 2012.

The win extends Glenbard East's playoff streak to eight straight appearances, a run highlighted by a quarterfinal berth in 2023.

Glenbard North 34, Hoffman Estates 20

No. 38 Glenbard North pulled the road upset against No. 27 Hoffman Estates in Class 7A. Shaw Local writer Steve Soucie had picked the Panthers before the game, noting Glenbard North was hurt by a deep DuKane Conference schedule during the regular season.

The Panthers finished 3-6, winning both nonconference games but managing just one conference victory over Lake Park. Hoffman Estates had gone 3-1 in its final four games, allowing just 29 points during that stretch, according to Soucie's Class 7A analysis.

Glenbard South 40, Payton 7

The No. 17-seeded Raiders delivered their most lopsided win of the season, blowing out No. 16 Payton in Class 5A. Glenbard South entered the playoffs on a two-game losing streak and was 0-3 against teams with winning records.

Junior Elijah Donahue, a two-way standout, and senior quarterback Tommy Bauman led the Raiders. Bauman's top target during the regular season was junior Anthony Baldauf. Payton had scored 13 points or fewer in five of its nine games, according to Shaw Local's Class 5A analysis.

The 40-7 result was Glenbard South's first playoff win since 2023. The Raiders are making their 15th straight postseason appearance.

What's next
