Crews were scheduled to start replacing curb, gutter, sidewalk and driveway concrete on the south side of Marion Avenue on Friday, Oct. 23. The four-to-seven-day construction window overlaps with Halloween, and some residents will lose driveway access while new concrete cures.

A Lamp Concrete Contractors is handling the work as part of Glen Ellyn's 2026 Utility and Roadway Improvements project, according to a Village notice dated Oct. 22. The notice asked affected residents to move vehicles off driveways by 7 a.m. Oct. 23. The contractor is also going door to door to notify homeowners before access is cut.

Concrete locations marked for replacement are noted with pink arrows on a map included in the village's notice.

Where to park

During work hours, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, displaced residents can park on the east side of Kenilworth Court, the north side of Linden Street or the south side of Maple Street. Overnight, south-side Marion residents may park on the north side of Marion Avenue. Vehicles parked overnight on the street must be moved by 7 a.m. the next morning, the notice said.

Glen Ellyn's police department is aware of the temporary parking arrangement, so residents should not need to call before parking on the street overnight.

Halloween timing

The village said its goal is to minimize sidewalk impacts over Halloween weekend. Once the south-side work is finished and the concrete has cured, crews will move to the north side of Marion Avenue. A separate notice with that timeline will follow.

Buried utilities and contact information

Residents with privately buried utilities near the curb or sidewalk, such as irrigation systems or pet fences, should mark them with paint or flags to reduce the risk of accidental damage during construction, the village said.
