Glenbard West volleyball lost for the first time in West Suburban Silver play Tuesday, Sept. 29, falling to Downers Grove North 21-25, 25-23, 25-15.

The loss dropped the Hilltoppers to 21-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play, according to Shaw Local's Suburban Life roundup. The Trojans improved to 13-5 and 2-1, pulling into a tie atop the Silver standings.

Glenbard West had entered the week at 20-2 overall and 3-0 in the Silver after beating York on Sept. 22.

Glenbard South stays unbeaten in conference

Glenbard South swept Ridgewood 25-14, 25-16 on Tuesday to improve to 20-8 overall and 4-0 in Upstate Eight Conference East play.

Rebecca Johnston led the Raiders with 13 kills. Eva Bogdanov posted 20 assists and five digs, Emma Full added five kills and four digs, and Estelle Eltigani contributed five kills and three blocks.

Glenbard golfers advance to IHSA sectionals

At the Class 2A Glen Ellyn Regional at Glendale Lakes Golf Course on Tuesday, Glenbard West's Brooke Klamrzynski shot an 88 to finish ninth and advance individually to sectionals. Glenbard East's Angelina Cotcamp was right behind her, carding a 90 for 10th place and also earning a sectional berth.

York freshman Madison Cotey won the regional with an even-par 70, leading the Dukes to the team title at 331. Wheaton North (348) and Wheaton Warrenville South (358) also advanced as teams.

In a separate regional, Glenbard South golfers Sophia Champagne and Hailey Thornton also punched their tickets to sectionals. Glenbard South's athletics department announced Sept. 29 that both will compete Monday at the Prospect sectional.
