Glen Ellyn police are asking Tanglewood Drive neighbors to check their security cameras after a home was hit by gunfire early Saturday, Oct. 10.

The Glen Ellyn Police Department responded to the area of Tanglewood Drive and Woodview Drive around 12:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots roughly 15 minutes earlier, according to a department news release. That places the shots at approximately 12:15 a.m.

Officers arriving at the scene found physical evidence confirming the report. No suspects were in the area.

One residence on Tanglewood Drive was struck by bullets. No injuries were reported or identified by the department. The release did not specify how many rounds hit the home or what type of firearm was involved.

Officers spoke with several residents in the area to check on their safety and search for additional evidence. Through that canvass, the department collected footage from residential security cameras and doorbell cameras that neighbors had already captured.

Police are asking anyone in the area to review their own cameras for people, vehicles or unusual activity around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The department said residents with information should call 911 so an officer can speak with them and take a report.

The department described the shooting as an isolated incident. No suspects have been identified, and the case remains under active investigation, according to the release issued by Andrew Downey, the department's commander of operations. The release did not include a timeline for investigative updates.

The Glen Ellyn Police Department also posted about the investigation on its official X account Saturday, directing residents to the full news release.

Residents with footage or tips should call 911.
