Glen Ellyn families have a four-hour window for trick-or-treating on Halloween: 3–7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Village of Glen Ellyn posted the recommended hours and a slate of Halloween events on its official website Saturday, Oct. 3. The schedule spans more than two weeks, starting Friday, Oct. 16, and running through Halloween night.
Safety tips from Glen Ellyn police
The Glen Ellyn Police Department is asking trick-or-treaters to stick to familiar, well-lit neighborhoods and visit only homes with porch lights on. Parents should inspect all candy before children eat it and throw away anything unwrapped or suspicious.
The department recommends children carry a flashlight and wear light-colored, flame-retardant costumes that don't restrict vision or cause tripping. Reflective tape on costumes or treat bags helps drivers spot kids after dark.
Children should be accompanied by a parent or trusted adult. Older kids should travel in groups.
