Glen Ellyn families can choose their scare level when the Ackerman Haunted Trail returns for two nights on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.
The Glen Ellyn Park District is bringing back the annual trail at Ackerman Park, 800 St. Charles Road, according to a park district announcement by Courtney O'Kray. The event runs from 4 to 9 p.m. both days.
The 10-minute walk winds past creepy creatures, scary sounds and what the park district describes as "bone-chilling scenes." Visitors who prefer a tamer experience can arrive between 4 and 6 p.m., when the trail is dialed down for younger or easily frightened guests. After 6 p.m., the trail shifts to a full-scare experience geared toward older children, according to the park district's event page.
Admission is $7 per person. Everyone age 3 and older walking the trail must register and pay. Registration is available through the park district's online system, and the district warns the event may reach capacity. Those who find it full can add themselves to a waiting list.
Food and drink vendors will be on site before and after the walk.
The event is weather-permitting. If rain or other conditions force a cancellation, the park district will post updates at gepark.org/hotline on the day of the event.
Patch also covered the trail's return, describing the experience as featuring foggy patches and costumed characters.
