Glen Ellyn's volunteer firefighters will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a sunset ceremony at Fire Station 61 on Friday evening.

The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company said the ceremony begins at 7:07 p.m. at the southeast corner of the station, at Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The station's address is 524 Pennsylvania Ave.

The event will honor those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and in the wars that followed, according to a Patch listing. The tribute also recognizes local military personnel, police officers and firefighters.

The fire company, which has served Glen Ellyn since 1907, described the gathering as a remembrance for those affected by the 2001 attacks, according to its event announcement.

A portion of Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed during the ceremony. Residents can call the station at 630-469-5265 for details.
