Common Grounds Vibe Cafe, a family-owned coffee shop that spent a decade in DeKalb, has opened in downtown Lombard at 22 W. St. Charles Rd.
The Lombard Chamber of Commerce welcomed the cafe with a ribbon-cutting "Remix Party" on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Chamber members, community leaders and neighbors gathered for an afternoon of music, local art and buy-one-get-one drinks, according to the chamber.
Owner Jeffery Foster built a following among students, musicians and artists in DeKalb after opening Common Grounds in 2016, the chamber said. Foster hopes the new location, across from the Lombard Metra station, will serve as an open studio for creative collaboration.
The cafe's website describes the shop as both a bookstore and lending library where visitors can take a book, leave one or donate titles, games and art supplies. The Oct. 13 event also launched a fall book drive. The menu features coffee from a Lombard roastery and treats from a local co-op, according to the chamber.
Common Grounds Vibe Cafe is open seven days a week. Hours vary by day; check the cafe's website for the current schedule.
