Lombard residents can help neighbors stay warm this winter by donating new socks at three locations around town through Monday, Nov. 2.

The Lombard Junior Women's Club is running its Socktober donation drive, collecting new youth and adult socks at Helen Plum Library, 411 S. Main St., as well as Madison Meadows Athletic Center and Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, both Lombard Park District facilities. At Helen Plum, donation boxes are in the Hub.

Only new socks are accepted. The club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1930, said the donations will go toward keeping community members warm this winter. The specific organizations receiving the socks have not been publicly identified.
