Lombard's free Senior Fair returns for its 20th year on Wednesday, Oct. 7, with health screenings, flu shots and an on-site state mobile DMV unit at Madison Meadow Athletic Center.

The fair runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lombard Park District facility, 500 E. Wilson Ave. Admission is free.

The Illinois Secretary of State's Mobile Driver Services Facility will offer driver's license and state ID renewals, including REAL ID, along with vehicle registration stickers. The unit will also handle organ and tissue donor registration and voter registration tied to license transactions. Written and road tests will not be available.

Appointments are required for DMV services and can be scheduled at villageoflombard.org/seniors. The Village of Lombard said on Instagram on Sept. 29 that DMV appointment slots were still open.

Local health care professionals will provide free flu vaccinations, blood pressure checks and hearing screenings. Organizations offering information on senior programs, housing, home health care, financial services and accessibility will also be on hand.

Trustee Jessie Hammersmith, chair of the Village's Community Relations Committee, said in an Aug. 5 announcement calling for vendors that "the Senior Fair is a great example of our community coming together to support older adults … We encourage organizations to join us as we celebrate 20 years of connecting seniors with valuable services, programs and resources."

The Community Relations Committee coordinates the event with help from local agencies, health care providers and businesses. The fair has been connecting older adults with resources, programs and services for two decades. It hit its maximum vendor capacity by late August, and vendor registration is closed.

Attendees will receive complimentary coffee and snacks. The Lombard Park District is also giving fairgoers free all-day passes to the athletic center.

The Village will present its 21st annual Senior Man and Woman of the Year Awards in connection with the fair. The awards honor residents 65 and older for volunteerism and community service. The 2026 honorees had not been publicly announced as of Sept. 30.
