Glendale Heights residents can get free flu shots, health screenings and food pantry access at the annual Family Health & Safety Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sports Hub, 250 Civic Center Plaza. Admission is free.
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks staff will provide screenings at a biometric station measuring blood pressure, pulse, weight, height and BMI, according to the village's recreation department. Free flu shots are available to attendees 18 and older. The hospital will also offer social services and medication detox resources on site.
The Teddy Bear Clinic gives children a stuffed bear and walks them through a hands-on experience with medical professionals, teaching them how to care for their bear if it gets hurt or sick.
A Touch-A-Truck exhibit will feature vehicles from the Glendale Heights Police Department, Glenside Fire Protection District, Bloomingdale Fire Protection District and Glendale Heights Public Works Department.
Sponsors include the Village of Glendale Heights, Marquardt School District 15, Queen Bee School District 16, Glenbard High School District 87 and Glenside Public Library District, according to the event flyer.
