Downtown Glen Ellyn's annual Witches Walk returns Thursday, Oct. 15, with $25 tickets covering cocktails, mystical readers and prize drawings across 20 participating storefronts.

The Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn, the nonprofit that organizes events in the village's central business district, is hosting the 21-and-over event from 4 to 9 p.m. Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. through the Alliance's website. They will not be sold the night of the event and may sell out before the deadline.

Each $25 ticket includes five 3-ounce alcoholic drinks, unlimited mocktails, shopping discounts and access to tarot card, palm, astrology and psychic readers stationed inside downtown shops. Alcoholic beverages must stay inside the stores.

Ticketholders pick one of 20 downtown stores as a check-in spot, where they receive a wristband and program before exploring the rest of the district, according to Shaw Local. Each storefront will serve its own signature "witch's brew" and host a Best Dressed Witch's Hat Contest. Winners at each location receive a medal and two free tickets to the Alliance's Holiday Ladies Night Out in November.

Dawn Smith, executive director of the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn, said in a September Glancer Magazine article that the walk gives residents a chance to experience downtown shops in a new way, with the community dressing up and storefronts coming alive for the evening.

This year's walk starts at 4 p.m., an hour earlier than in past years, according to the Alliance's event page. In-store entertainment joins the lineup of mystical readers. Downtown restaurants are also offering dining and happy hour deals before and after the event.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If the event is canceled, the Alliance said it will email ticket buyers with options. A valid ID is required at check-in.
