OAKtoberfest, a free fall festival, takes over Lake Ellyn Park in Glen Ellyn on Saturday, Oct. 10. The afternoon celebration features live music, kids' activities and a beer garden benefiting the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation.

The Glen Ellyn Park District is hosting the oak-tree-themed event from 3 to 7 p.m. at the park, 645 Lenox Road. Go Green Glen Ellyn sponsors the festival, according to the Park District's event page.

Two acts headline the music lineup: School of Rock and The Fall Guys. Artist Liita Forsyth of The Little Bits Workshop will lead a collaborative community art project on-site.

Activities include face painting, a StoryWalk®, guided oak tree tours, an acorn talisman craft and a tree treasure hunt. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Several conservation-focused organizations will have a presence, including The Conservation Foundation, Saving Monarchs and the Glen Ellyn Public Library.

Adults 21 and older can visit The Beer Cellar's draft beer station. A portion of beverage proceeds benefits the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds scholarships, park preservation and facility improvements across the Park District. The foundation says every dollar it raises stays within the Glen Ellyn Park District.

The foundation's scholarship program helps Glen Ellyn residents participate in Park District programs regardless of economic situation. Its summer fundraiser, Thirsty Thursdays on the Deck, raised $2,150 in 2026. The foundation also broke ground in May on Prairie Path Park, a downtown greenspace being built on a former parking lot.

OAKtoberfest is weather-dependent. The Park District advises checking gepark.org/hotline on the day of the event for cancellation updates.

Coming up: The Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation's next fundraising event is Photos with Santa on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse.
