Poppie's Pasta won't be opening its second location in downtown Glen Ellyn as soon as planned.

The Villa Park Italian restaurant announced on Oct. 26 that its grand opening at 552 Crescent Blvd. has been delayed because of "unexpected, last-minute permit requirements" from the village, Patch reported, citing an Instagram post from the business.

No new date has been set.

The restaurant said in the post that "we're doing everything we can to move forward while following the rules and regulations set by the Village." Neither the post nor the Patch report identified which permits caused the holdup.

Poppie's Pasta operates its original restaurant at 332 East Saint Charles Road in Villa Park. The restaurant makes its pastas in-house daily and tops them with scratch-made sauces, according to its website. Patch reported the Glen Ellyn menu will feature dishes such as gnocchi Milanese with vodka sauce and pear and gorgonzola ravioli, along with subs, focaccia and desserts.

The business's Instagram account, which has more than 9,000 followers, had been posting updates throughout October showing progress at the Crescent Boulevard space. Posts from early and mid-October included images of signage going up, kitchen equipment being installed and the storefront taking shape. The account lists its operator as "Chef & Owner" but does not include a full name in its public bio.

The Glen Ellyn location at 552 Crescent Blvd. would mark the restaurant's second spot.
