DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin will send teams of prosecutors and investigators to polling places across the county on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The monitors will be available from 6 a.m., when polls open, through the 7 p.m. close to respond to suspected violations of the Illinois Election Code, according to The Lombardian. That includes polling locations in Glen Ellyn, Lombard and every other DuPage community.

For voters heading to the polls here, the deployment means an extra layer of oversight. Staff from the State's Attorney's Office will also stay in contact throughout the day with officials at the DuPage County Clerk's Office in Wheaton.

"As we have done in every election since I became State's Attorney, my office will once again deploy teams of Assistant State's Attorneys and Investigators throughout DuPage County to canvass polling places and to respond to suspected violations of the Election Code," Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin said local law enforcement and sheriff's deputies will also be on call to respond to any issues at the polls.

He added that his office does not expect problems but is prepared to act quickly on any allegations of voter fraud or interference. Anyone suspected of such behavior "will not only be turned away at the polls but will be thoroughly investigated and potentially face criminal prosecution," Berlin said.

Shaw Local first reported the announcement on Oct. 21.
