Montini Catholic senior quarterback Izzy Abrams earned the Chicago Bears High School All-Star of the Week award on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The honor caps a standout week for the Lombard school's two-time state champion.

Gus Silva, a representative from the Bears organization, visited Montini to present Abrams with the news, the school announced on X. The award recognized his performance in Montini's 47-42 comeback win at Nazareth Academy on Friday, Sept. 11.

Abrams accounted for all seven Montini touchdowns that night, throwing four scoring passes and running for three more. He finished with 408 passing yards, according to Shaw Local. The Broncos trailed 42-27 with 9:14 left in the fourth quarter before Abrams led the rally.

The game-winner came with 34 seconds remaining. Abrams found wide receiver Damacio Ortegon on a 33-yard strike, and Orlando Greco sealed the victory with an interception with 10 seconds left.

"I never lose faith … The key is our ability to adjust," Abrams told Shaw Local after the Sept. 11 game. "All the credit to our wide receivers and our coaches."

Abrams is ranked as the No. 3 quarterback in the country by Rivals and is committed to the University of Miami, according to the Daily Herald. He already has two state championships on his résumé, per the Daily Herald's weekly top performers column.

Head coach Mike Bukovsky praised Abrams' work ethic before the season began. In an August feature in the Chicago Tribune, Bukovsky said Abrams' arm "is good as I've ever seen at the high school level."

Montini sits at 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Chicago Catholic League (CCL) Green Division. The Broncos have won 27 of their last 28 games under Bukovsky and climbed two spots to No. 17 in the SI.com Illinois Top 25 rankings released Monday, Sept. 14.

Up next for Montini is a home game against Carmel, a top-40 opponent in the state rankings.
