Lombard police charged three people at Ivy Spa on Wednesday, Sept. 30, after responding to the business at 1263 S. Main St.
Kaylee Park, 52, of Los Angeles was charged with prostitution and practicing massage without a license, according to the Lombard Police Department press log. Park was released on pretrial release.
Myunghwa Ji, 54, of Las Vegas was charged with practicing massage without a license. Yeon Heflin, 49, of Douglaston, New York, was charged with exposed parts. Both were released on scene. Lt. Roman supervised the case, which was logged at 11:36 a.m.
Under Illinois law, practicing massage therapy without a license is a Class A misdemeanor, with subsequent convictions rising to a Class 4 felony, according to a 2016 bulletin from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
The charges come weeks after the Lombard Village Board discussed a text amendment to regulate massage establishments in the village. At the board's Aug. 20 meeting, a village official said the amendment was needed because the village had "determined that massage establishments pose a substantial risk of being used to facilitate prostitution, human trafficking, sexual exploitation and other unlawful activities," The Lombardian reported. The village's Economic and Community Development Committee had recommended the amendment at its July 13 meeting.
The press log does not list court dates for any of the three defendants.
