More than a dozen Glen Ellyn households on Marion Avenue will lose driveway access for about a week. Contractor A Lamp Concrete Contractors begins curb, gutter, sidewalk and driveway replacement on the north side of the street Monday, Nov. 2.
The Village of Glen Ellyn posted a resident notice Oct. 30 listing the affected addresses: 302, 303, 308, 312, 318, 320, 328, 330, 336, 342, 346, 352 and 372 Marion Avenue. The village asked those residents to move vehicles off their driveways before 7 a.m. Monday.
The north-side phase follows A Lamp's concrete work on the south side of Marion, which the notice said is nearing completion. South-side residents whose driveways were replaced will regain access by Monday morning, according to the notice.
Where to park
A Lamp's crew will go door-to-door before removing driveway access, but the village urged residents to relocate vehicles ahead of time. During work hours, the notice directed displaced residents to park on the east side of Kenilworth, the north side of Linden or the south side of Maple.
The notice body describes work hours as typically 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., while an attached parking map lists them as 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
After hours, residents may park on the street on the north side of Marion. Displaced residents may also park on the south side of Marion overnight but must move vehicles by 7 a.m. the next day. The Glen Ellyn Police Department is aware of the overnight parking arrangement, the notice said.
Buried utilities
The village asked residents with privately buried utilities near the curb or sidewalk, such as irrigation systems or pet fences, to mark them with paint or flags to reduce the risk of damage.
Road repaving timeline
Once the concrete work cures, A Lamp will move to utility trench patching, milling and a first layer of asphalt the week of Nov. 9. A final asphalt layer is scheduled for the week of Nov. 16. Sod restoration and remaining punchlist items are targeted for completion before Thanksgiving, according to the notice.
