Four Glen Ellyn-area business leaders will share a stage Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Chamber of Commerce's Empowering Women in Business Expo & Luncheon.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Glen Oak Country Club, 21W451 Hill Ave. A business expo fills the first 90 minutes, followed by a luncheon and panel discussion. Tickets cost $60 for chamber members and $75 for guests, with only 100 seats available, according to the Chamber's event page.

The panel features Diana Martinez, director of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage; Kim Seaman, owner of the Chicken Salad Chick franchise on Roosevelt Road; Cheryl Shurtz, designated managing broker at RE/MAX Suburban; and Carey Carlock, founder of Mosaic Counseling & Wellness. Dawn Bussey, executive director of the Glen Ellyn Public Library, will facilitate.

Each panelist brings deep local roots. Martinez oversees a venue that hosts more than 380 events annually and draws between 100,000 and 140,000 visitors a year, she told the Chicago Tribune in August as the MAC marked its 40th anniversary. Seaman opened her Glen Ellyn restaurant in November 2025 with her husband Garrett under their company Fox Valley Chick. Shurtz has held her RE/MAX post since 1999 and served as Chamber president in 1999 and 2000, according to her LinkedIn profile. Carlock left a 13-year run as CEO of Riveredge Hospital in 2021 to launch Mosaic, which has since grown to seven suburban locations and nearly 100 therapists, according to a May 2026 Austin Weekly News profile.

"Growing very quickly wasn't the strategic plan, but we have an integrated, high-quality client experience which I think propelled our growth …" Carlock said in that May profile.

The Chamber describes the panel as covering leadership, entrepreneurship, community connection and work-life balance. Sponsorship opportunities are also available through the Chamber's website. Tickets can be reserved at glenellynchamber.com/empowering-women.
