Glen Ellyn residents who want to serve on the Village Board or Library Board can now begin preparing to run in the April 6, 2027 Consolidated Election, with petition circulation opening Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn announced Saturday, Aug. 8, that both boards have seats up for election next spring and that the candidate recruitment window is underway. Judith Kinn authored the post on the league's website.
Two paths exist.
The Civic Betterment Committee route
The Civic Betterment Committee, a nonpartisan Glen Ellyn organization that recruits and slates candidates for local office, is actively seeking applicants. Residents interested in the CBC process can visit civicbetterment.com/candidate-information/ or email [email protected] for application details. The CBC's specific application deadline was not listed on its website as of this weekend.
The independent petition route
Candidates who prefer to bypass the slating process can file independently by collecting voter signatures on a nominating petition. Under the statewide election calendar, petition circulation for the April 6, 2027 election begins Tuesday, Aug. 25. Completed nomination packets must be filed with the DuPage County Election Division between Nov. 16 and Nov. 23.
County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek's Election Division handles candidate filings for Glen Ellyn. Prospective candidates can request a petition packet and confirm the required signature count by calling 630-407-5600.
What's not yet clear
The announcement did not list how many seats are open on either board. Residents considering a run should confirm the exact number of open seats with the CBC or the DuPage County Election Division.
