The Glen Ellyn Park District will turn Lake Ellyn Park into a fall festival grounds on Saturday, Oct. 10, with a free, all-ages celebration called OAKtoberfest.

The event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. at the park, 645 Lenox Road.

Two live acts anchor the afternoon. School of Rock and The Fall Guys will perform throughout the festival, according to the park district's announcement. The park district is billing the event as a chance to "celebrate the king of trees," and the lineup of activities leans into that theme.

Guided oak tree tours will take visitors through the park's canopy. Families can also try a tree treasure hunt, an acorn talisman craft, face painting, games and a StoryWalk that winds through the grounds.

Artist Liita Forsyth of The Little Bits Workshop will lead a collaborative community art project on site, according to a Kidlist event listing.

Admission is free.

The Beer Cellar will pour draft beer for guests 21 and older at a craft beer garden. A portion of beverage sales benefits the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation, which is co-presenting the festival.

Several conservation and community groups plan to set up at the park. The Conservation Foundation, Saving Monarchs and the Glen Ellyn Public Library are among the organizations listed as participants, giving families a chance to connect with local environmental and literacy programs while they browse.

Go Green Glen Ellyn, Jenn Iaccino Group and Glen Ellyn Bank & Trust are listed as sponsors on the Parks Foundation's event page.

OAKtoberfest joins a string of fall programming at Lake Ellyn. The park district's Pup & Putt mini golf event is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, at the same park, and the district has been rolling out seasonal activities across its facilities heading into October.

The park district's announcement does not list a registration requirement, and the event appears open to walk-up visitors.
