Lombard's Connect 44 Center has stopped accepting rental and contract bookings because the facility is full, District 44 said on its website. The district did not indicate when bookings closed.
The center, an addition to Glenn Westlake Middle School, houses STEAM labs with indoor and outdoor learning areas, a field house with basketball and volleyball courts, and a turf room with artificial turf for field sports. Sixth- through eighth-graders use the spaces during school hours. Community groups, leagues and tournament organizers use them evenings and weekends.
Superintendent Dr. Ted Stec and the Board of Education developed the project to combine student programming with recreational space open to Lombard residents, according to the district.
The district said it will update its website if rental availability reopens. Residents with questions can call the district office at (630) 827-4400.
