All four Glenbard District 87 football programs are headed to the IHSA playoffs after brackets dropped Saturday, Oct. 17.
Glenbard West earned a first-round bye. Glenbard East hosts an opening-round game. Glenbard North and Glenbard South both travel. The IHSA will release official start times and dates for opening-round games by Monday, Oct. 19, according to Shaw Local.
Glenbard West: bye, then a home game
The Hilltoppers (6-3) are the No. 15 seed in Class 7A. Head coach Chad Hetlet's teams have never lost a first playoff game since he arrived in 2007, Shaw Local reported, though the program has not advanced past the second round in four years.
Glenbard West will host the winner of No. 47 Benet (2-7) at No. 18 Moline (6-3). Quarterback AJ Rayford leads an offense averaging nearly 36 points per game, with Northwestern recruits Brady Johnson and Josiah Wallace up front.
Glenbard East: hosting Bartlett
The Rams (6-3) are the No. 17 seed in Class 7A and host No. 48 Bartlett (2-7).
Glenbard East has reached the postseason eight straight years, including a quarterfinal run in 2023, according to Shaw Local. The Rams started 0-2 but turned the season around behind sophomore quarterback Carter Pohlman and playmakers Montii Perry and Malachi Miller.
Bartlett (2-7) earned the final 7A berth on the strength of 46 playoff points, Shaw Local reported. The Hawks had not reached the postseason since 2021.
The winner travels to No. 16 Kenwood (6-3).
Glenbard North: at Hoffman Estates
The Panthers (3-6) are the No. 38 seed in Class 7A and travel to No. 27 Hoffman Estates (5-4), according to the official IHSA bracket published by Shaw Local.
A win would send Glenbard North to No. 6 Jacobs (8-1).
Glenbard South: at Payton
The Raiders (5-4) are the No. 17 seed in Class 5A and travel to No. 16 Payton (5-4) in Chicago.
Glenbard South is making its 15th straight playoff appearance, Shaw Local reported, though the Raiders have won just two postseason games since 2017. Quarterback Tommy Bauman and junior receiver Anthony Baldauf run the offense, with Elijah Donahue a factor on both sides of the ball. The Raiders enter the postseason 0-3 against opponents with winning records.
Payton, also on a 15-year playoff streak, last won a postseason game in 2022.
The winner faces a steep climb: a second-round trip to No. 1 Antioch (9-0). IHSA championship games are scheduled for Nov. 27 and Nov. 28.
