Glen Ellyn residents who haven't registered to vote must do so online by Sunday, Oct. 18, to be ready for the Nov. 3 general election.

After that date, voters can still register in person at the DuPage County Clerk's Office, a permanent early voting site or their polling place on Election Day. In-person registration requires two forms of ID, with at least one showing a current address, according to Patch.

Early voting and drop box

The Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St., opens as a permanent early voting site on Monday, Oct. 19. Hours run weekdays 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Election Day, according to CBS Chicago. Lombard's Yorktown Center, 350 Yorktown Shopping Center, opens the same day with the same hours.

The Civic Center also houses a mail-ballot drop box. Ballot envelopes are collected daily and sent to the DuPage County Clerk's Office for processing. Mail-ballot applications are due by Thursday, Oct. 29, and completed ballots must be postmarked or dropped off by Nov. 3.

Polls open at 6 a.m. on Election Day and close at 7 p.m.

Sheriff's race: Coolidge vs. Noonan

DuPage County will get a new sheriff no matter the outcome. Sheriff James Mendrick, a Republican, chose not to seek a third term and instead ran unsuccessfully for the GOP gubernatorial nomination.

Democrat Peter Coolidge, who retired from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office in February 2024 after 28 years, faces Republican Sean Noonan, a sworn officer with the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department. Coolidge worked in all three sheriff's office bureaus: Corrections, Law Enforcement and Courthouse Administration. His campaign website emphasizes a return to community policing, with officers spending more time on non-enforcement contacts in neighborhoods. Noonan previously served as a sergeant and field training officer with the Bloomingdale Police Department.

According to the DuPage Policy Journal, Coolidge is seeking to become the first Democrat elected DuPage County Sheriff since 1839.

Former DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin endorsed Noonan, saying on the candidate's campaign website that Noonan "understands both the operational and fiscal sides of county government."

6th Congressional District

Glen Ellyn Republican Niki Conforti, an energy consultant making her third bid for Congress, faces Democratic incumbent Rep. Sean Casten of Downers Grove in a rematch. Casten won by 8 points in 2024, the Daily Herald reported.

The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn said a planned candidate forum was cancelled because Conforti did not respond to multiple invitations.

County and statewide races

DuPage County Board President Deborah Conroy, a Democrat, faces Republican Gary Grasso, an attorney and former Burr Ridge mayor. County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek faces Paula Deacon Garcia, and Treasurer Gwen Henry faces Yeena Yoo.

In the 18th Judicial Circuit's fourth subdistrict, Democratic Judge Christina Kye faces Republican Michael W. Fleming.

Statewide, the open U.S. Senate seat pits Democrat Juliana Stratton against Republican Don Tracy. The seat has not been open in more than 30 years, NBC Chicago reported. Gov. JB Pritzker faces Republican Darren Bailey in a rematch of their 2022 contest.

Online registration is available through Oct. 18 on the Illinois Board of Elections website.
